Acoustic Panel Installation at Southern Calvert Baptist Church<\/strong><\/h1>\n

At Southern Calvert Baptist Church<\/strong> in Lusby, Maryland, we recently wrapped up an acoustic panel installation<\/strong> that made a huge difference<\/strong> in the sound quality of three key spaces: the sanctuary, the caf\u00e9, and the lobby<\/strong>. While the church had already taken care of the caf\u00e9 and lobby themselves, we stepped in to complete the sanctuary install\u2014and I couldn\u2019t be happier with how it turned out. In this post, I\u2019ll walk you through the work we did, the challenges we faced<\/strong>, and why acoustic treatment is so crucial<\/strong> for these spaces.<\/p>\n

Lobby & Caf\u00e9: Creating a Better First Impression<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The lobby<\/strong> is the first thing people experience when they step inside the church. The first time I visited, I immediately noticed how untreated surfaces\u2014tile floors, drywall ceilings, and parallel walls\u2014created a loud, echoey space<\/strong>. When multiple people started talking, the noise built up quickly, forcing everyone to raise their voices just to be heard.<\/p>\n

To solve this, the church installed Prime Acoustic cloud panels<\/strong> on the ceiling, which made an instant difference<\/strong>. These panels help keep conversations clear<\/strong> without overwhelming background noise. Whether it\u2019s people chatting before service, parents stepping out with a crying baby, or members catching up after church, having a properly treated space makes the environment far more welcoming<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The caf\u00e9<\/strong>, labeled the “Connect Caf\u00e9,” had the same issue. This is a key gathering spot<\/strong> for fellowship, but before the install, even a simple two-person conversation was hard to understand. I know this firsthand because my first discussion with Justin, the worship pastor,<\/strong> was at this very table\u2014and even though we were only two feet apart, it was tough to hear each other<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Now, with eight cloud panels<\/strong> mounted on the ceiling and a slat wall<\/strong> helping to absorb sound, conversations in the caf\u00e9 feel natural and comfortable<\/strong>. The church could even add more panels down the line for additional treatment, but the current setup already makes a significant impact<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Sanctuary: A Unique Design with Custom Solutions<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The sanctuary was where we had to get creative. Unlike a standard rectangular room, this space had multiple architectural elements to consider<\/strong>:<\/p>\n
